Location

The district Prenzlauer Berg- today one of the most coveted areas in Berlin- was erected for the working class in the second half of the 19th century. Older buildings such as the water tower with its impressive outline looming above Kollwitzplatz and the "Prater" Biergarten on Kastanienallee (Berlin's oldest) still testify to days when Prenzlauer Berg became the perfect destination for a summer outing. For the most part the previously restored tenements from the Imperial period remain a part of the cityscape. Countless pubs, lounge bars, cafés and galleries make for unrivalled nightlife; popular places to go out include Kastanienallee, Kollwitzplatz, Kulturbrauerei (an expansive brewery which has been transformed into a centre for culture and evening entertainment) and Helmholtzplatz. Both buildings, Christinenstraße 16 and Christinenstraße 17 are just across the street of a little park called "Teutoburger Platz" (Teutoburg square) which is the "green spot" of the area. Most of the neighboring properties have been refurbished in recent years and create a classy atmosphere with their neoclassical facades. Additionally, an emerging art and gallery scene with renowned international artists has sprung up in the immediate vicinity. The properties are conveniently situated within minutes of shops, cafés and transport facilities. The Alexanderplatz is just two subway stops away. The "Hackescher Markt" another tourist hotspot can be reached by foot in about 15 minutes, the Kollwitzplatz in less than 10 minutes.
